This page describes some of the inhabitants of land of Dalriada. Some of which the children are introduced to, and others which they try their hardest to avoid!
In addition to the many other animals introduced in this story, the following have special significance in this Tale of Dalriada and befriend the children who have come to be lost in their land.
Bilby:Tumbledown unwittingly leads the children into the land of Dalriada.At times, he is not overly friendly, but plays an important role nonetheless.
Guinea Pig:The ones in this story are a little different to the ones that many people keep as pets – since Dalriadan guinea pigs can fly – although not all of them want to!

Red Kangaroo:Aloof and wary because of previous human contact, Rufus is a faithful, dependable and trustworthy scout.

There are many albino kangaroos at the park!

Ring Tail Possum: Petal is a small, ringtail possum who acts as a night-time sentry whilst the children are escorted, by the animals, to the Vale of the Wise-folk.
Squirrel:Resourceful, amusing and extremely fond of food, Quickpaws befriends the children almost immediately – well as soon as he realises they have food!
Wombat: The Wyvernstone features a pair of kind, elderly wombats, whose role is more important than the children immediately imagine.

Many legendary creatures also live there.Some of those featured in The Wyvernstone are:
Aehren Elf:These folk are not unlike their other Elven cousins, with one exception.They possess the ability to fly short distances on wings that are often hidden beneath their scarlet cloaks.
Bunyip:A creature of Australian legend, the Bunyip can grow to be large, fearsome and quick to anger.However, they can also appear, at times, to be gentle and considerate of others.
Druid (unknown origin):No-one is really sure what sort of creature Pharamond the Druid is.Although slightly larger than an Elf and bearing similar features, he has round, jet-black eyes.
Elf:Possessing pointed ears andangular eyes, Elves are the chief inhabitants of the land of Dalriada.They are kind and fiercely loyal to the animals they care for; and are the designated protectors of the magical portals to their world.
Goblin:Fierce, warlike individuals with little regard for natural beauty, their greed for land and thirst for fighting have unfortunately led them to the land of Dalriada.
Pegasus:These magical, winged horses are a common sight to the folk of Dalriada.They allow those they trust to ride them – an extremely fortunate occurrence for anyone lucky enough to do so.
Troll:There are many types – River Trolls and Mountain Trolls being two examples.Often regarded as large, slow and dumb-witted they are nevertheless a dangerous and fearsome foe.
Unicorn:The Sacred Unicorn is revered in Dalriada.Its presence is considered a sign of good fortune – something that is much needed by the inhabitants of the Elven land.
Wyvern:A large, fearsome, dragon-like beast.The Wyvern has previously threatened the lives of the Dalriadan inhabitants, and when protected by a Wyvernstone, this winged creature is almost invincible.
